ELEVATE our World Curriculum

A global curriculum for Gifted Thinkers G 4-7

Elevate Our World Curriculum was developed through Professional Development by the Gifted Education Program, University of Central Florida. 

Teacher Leaders from Seminole County participated in workshops to develop activities for this project. 

Content was edited, revised and extended by UCF Project ELEVATE Team.

Templates and content of the Learning Activities are copyrighted to UCF 2021.

 

CURRICULUM UNIT DESIGN:

  • 5 UNITS

  • WITHIN EACH UNIT (Coded by number and color):

  • Learning Study Outlines (for teacher documentation and lesson study) LSB. LSM, LSK, LSIRE, LSSA

  • Learning Activity Sheets  (condensed for teaching) - 1 Introduction, 1 Preview, 10 activities, 1 Type III - Gifted Curriculum=GC - GCB, GCM, GCK, GCIRE, GCSA

  • Resources for each unit.

A Global Curriculum for Gifted Learners with a focus on International Perspectives and includes focus on Immigrant and diverse learners with Multilingual backgrounds.

 

  • ELEVATE OUR WORLD KEY PRINCIPLES

 ELEVATE model identifies 7 principles that are embedded throughout the project (Eriksson, 2020)

 

  • ELEVATE OUR WORLD CURRICULUM - STRATEGIES FOR EL GIFTED

An overview of approaches to including English Learners that go beyond the regular standards for all English Learners or Second Language Learners.

 

  • DIFFERENTIATED TEACHING STRATEGIES FOR IMMIGRANT GIFTED GCIM

These core strategies focus on assets immigrant students bring to their new context or country that go beyond standards set for English Learners or second or third language learners.  They combine global and comparative education with gifted education.  (Eriksson, 2020)

 

  • NAGC K-12 PROGRAMMING STANDARDS (National Association for Gifted Children, USA, 2019) 

These standards are infused throughout the units

 

  • PROGRAM MANAGEMENT PLAN

Includes:

  • Media Literacy and Websites - General and Specific for each country

  • Time Management - differs according to context and allocations

  • Types of Materials and Resources for General use for each unit

  • How to implement a Type III Independent Investigation of a Real Problem (Learning Activity 11)

 

  • COMPLETE UNIT TABLE OF CONTENTS

Includes a summary of each unit with core themes, questions and goals
